Dragon pickaxe detail

The dragon pickaxe was released with the Wilderness Rejuvenation on 13 March 2014. It is dropped by all the Wilderness bosses (not demi-bosses) and the King Black Dragon. It is the strongest and fastest pickaxe in-game.

The pickaxe mines ore at an increased speed (15% faster than the rune pickaxe). An Attack level of 60 is required to wield the pickaxe, while 61 Mining is required to mine ores with the pickaxe.

Special attackEdit

Rock Knocker

A player performs the Dragon pickaxes special attack, Rock Knocker.

The dragon pickaxe also has a special attack, Rock Knocker, which temporarily boosts the player's Mining level by 3 (players will need to have 60 Attack to utilize this special). This consumes 100% of the player's special attack energy.

Smouldering stone

A player uses a smouldering stone to create an infernal pickaxe.

Players can combine a smouldering stone with a dragon pickaxe to create an infernal pickaxe, requires 85 Smithing (boosts not allowed) to do so. This process cannot be undone.

The infernal pickaxe will grant the player a 1/3 chance to smelt ores for smithing experience whilst mining. The infernal pickaxe will be able to smelt 5,000 ores before degrading, requiring another smouldering stone or dragon pickaxe to charge it.

Players can also use a dragon pickaxe upgrade kit, obtained from the Bounty Hunter Store, to cosmetically enhance their dragon pickaxes, creating a dragon pickaxe (or). This only alters its appearance, and makes the pickaxe untradeable. The process can be reverted, but the kit will not be retained.

Trivia Edit

  • When the special attack is used, your character will say "Smashing!". This may be a reference to the catchphrase of the fictional character Nigel Thornberry from the cartoon The Wild Thornberrys.
