Overload detail

Overload is a potion that can be purchased from the Nightmare Zone minigame for 1,500 reward points per dose. These points can only be received by playing the minigame. Overloads cannot be used outside the minigame, due to many players describing overloads as trivialising bosses such as God Wars Dungeon bosses. It is also not possible to use an Overload potion when below 50 HP. However, if a player drinks an overload potion and immediately lowers themselves to 50 HP before the first hit of damage is applied, the player will die from the overload if they do not heal.

Overload usage

A player drinking a dose of overload.

Using an overload potion raises all of the player's combat levels (excluding Prayer and Hitpoints) by 5-19 (5 + 15% of level, rounded down), and damages for 50 hitpoints. The absorption potion will not absorb overload damage.

This boost is repeated every 15 seconds for 5 minutes. It is a popular misconception that overloads will fully restore a player's stats every 15 seconds. This is untrue, as overloads simply reapply every 15 seconds. This property is useful to players who are using Saradomin brews to restore hitpoints, as the overload's frequent boosts help to counter the Saradomin brews' stat drain. After the five minutes is up, the overload's stat boosts will wear off entirely, and the player is healed 50 hitpoints. You will need to re-dose every 5 minutes while in a dream to effectively use this potion in Nightmare Zone.
